Gladeview Church

what we believe

We believe in the Bible as the fully inspired, verbal Word of God as contained in the original manuscripts; that all portions of Scripture are equally inspired and contain no contradictions; that the Scriptures should be the only rule of faith and practice for the believer in Jesus Christ, and that the canon, the sixty-six books of the Bible, is complete. Nothing will be added or nothing will be removed. (II Timothy 3:16,17, Hebrews 1:11, II Peter 1:20,21, Revelation 22:18,19).

We believe in one God, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in existence, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfections. However, each person performs a different but at the same time harmonious function in the great work of redemption (Genesis 1:1, 26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 1:1, 10:30, II Corinthians ). 13:14, Ephesians 2:19).

  • We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal son of God, who became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life to reveal God and redeem sinful man. (John 1:2,14, Luke 1:35, I Peter 2:22, Acts 4:12.)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ consummates our redemption through his death on the Cross as a representative, vicarious and substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is secured by his literal and physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:24,25, I Peter 2:24, Ephesians 1:7, I Peter 1:3-5).
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and that he has been exalted to the right hand of God the Father, where, as our High Priest, he is carrying out his ministry as Representative, Intercessor and Advocate and that he returns to him for the church. It is imminent. (Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 9:24, Romans 8:34, I John 1:2, Revelation 22:30).

We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal to the Father and the Son. He is a person who convinces the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; and that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling within each believer and sealing them until the day of redemption (never to leave but to be with us forever).

He is the Divine Teacher who guides believers into all truth; and it is the privilege and responsibility of all the saved to be filled with the Holy Spirit and controlled by Him. (John 3:3-5; 14:16; 16:7-13; I Corinthians 12:12-14; Romans 8:10 , Ephesians 1:13,14, 5:8).

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of Adam’s sin the entire race has fallen and inherited a sinful nature and consequently a death not only physical but also spiritual, consisting of a conscious and eternal separation from God; that man is totally depraved and that on his own he is totally incapable of remedying his lost condition. (Genesis 1:26,27; Romans 3:10-23; Ephesians 1-3, 12; Romans 5:12; Revelation 21:8).

The Penalty of Sin

  • We believe that salvation is a gift from God, brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. We cannot make up for our sins or be forgiven by our good works. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are preserved or maintained by the power of God and are therefore secured in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1,38,39; I Corinthians 14:4-8.)
  • We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word, which, in any way, very clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion for unbelief and immorality. (Romans 13:13,14, Galatians 5:13, Titus 2:11-15, Hebrews 3:12,13, 6:9, Ephesians 2:8,9, John 1:12, I Peter 1:18,19 II Corinthians 5:21, Titus 3:5).

The Church in Heaven

We believe that it is composed of all born-again believers from the cross to the present, who have died physically and are now present in spirit before the Lord, awaiting the resurrection of their bodies at the rapture, when they will be reunited with the church on earth. (Acts 7:59; II Corinthians 5:7-9; I Thessalonians 4:13-18).

The Church on Earth

Universal: We believe that the church, which is the body of the bride-wife of Christ, is a spiritual organism composed of all born-again people. (Ephesians 1:11, 23; 5:25-27; I Corinthians 12:12-14; 10:4; Matthew 16:18; John 17:20).

Local: We believe that the local church is:

  • Composed of a local group of believers, who are autonomous, self-governing, and have no church organization as authority over them.
  • Composed of believers who are baptized by immersion.
  • Composed of believers who are organized. They have pastors, deacons, and other leaders as officers, to whom God has given special gifts to render as a ministry to the church.
  • Composed of believers who meet together regularly for fellowship, worship, and Bible study.
  • Composed of believers who observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  • Composed of believers who carry out the Great Commission. (I Corinthians 12:13, Acts 2, I Thessalonians 4:14-18, I Corinthians 16:19, Acts 2:41-47, I Corinthians 12, Hebrews 10:25, I Corinthians 11:23,24, Matthew 28:18-20).

We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the fall of man. He was created perfect but sinned and became the number one enemy of God and His Creation. He is the chief adversary of God’s children and seeks to prevent man from coming to God. When he is unable to do this, he seeks to weaken the testimony of Christians. He has at his disposal a great army of fallen angels and demons to carry out his purposes. He is not omnipotent and can be overcome by the power of God. His doom is sealed in the Lake of Fire for centuries. (Job 1:6,7, Matthew 4:2-11, Ezekiel:12-19, Isaiah:12-17, Revelation:10, 20:10).

We believe in the “Blessed Hope,” the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation, pre-millennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed, and in His subsequent return to earth with His saints, to establish His Millennial Kingdom. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Zechariah 14:4-11, Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-6).

We believe that all the saved should so live as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord, and that separation from all religious apostasy and from all worldly pleasures, practices, and associations is ordained of God. (II Timothy 3:1-5, II John 8:11, I John 2:15-17, II Corinthians 6:14, 7:11).

We believe that God has ordained that no intimate sexual activity can take place outside of marriage between a naturally born man and a naturally born woman.

We believe that any form of immorality is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God frowns upon and forbids any attempts to alter gender by surgery or appearance. (Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5,13; Genesis 26:8-9; Leviticus 19:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; I Cor. 5:6-9; I Thess. 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4.)

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably created each person as either male or female. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27).

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the union of a naturally born man and a naturally born woman in a unique and exclusive union, as described in the Scriptures.

We believe that Christians are to live holy lives, separated from the world, and maintain a testimony consistent with the New Testament.

Gladeview Church believes that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are all to walk together in Christian love, striving for the progress of this church in knowledge, holiness, and devotion; to promote the prosperity and spirituality of this church; to uphold its worship, ordinances, disciplines, and doctrines; to cheerfully contribute and regularly support the church with our tithes and offerings so that the ministry is sustained, expenses are paid, the poor are helped, and the Gospel is spread throughout all nations.

This church invites all its members to maintain family and personal devotions; to raise their children in the knowledge of the Word and in the fear of God; to seek the salvation of their relatives and friends; To walk wisely in the world; to be just in their conduct, faithful in their obligations, and exemplary in their proceedings; to be zealous in their efforts to win souls to Christ; to avoid all kinds of gossip, detraction, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating liquors and the unseemly sale and use of intoxicants.

We further encourage each member to show brotherly love toward other members; to remember one another in prayer; to help one another in sickness and affliction; to cultivate Christian sympathy of feeling and grace in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and ever attentive to the rules of our Savior.

If the will of God directs a member to move from this area, we invite him as soon as possible to join another church of the same faith and practice, that he may continue to live a Christian testimony according to the principles of the Word of God. (Romans 12-14, Colossians 3, Ephesians 4-6, Galatians 5-6).
